PSST! Party at The Bunny Lounge!

Mama and Daddy have confirmed they are going away for two whole nights! Mama also told me Shadow was staying with her friend. I've added this together and that means that I will have The Bunny Lounge all to myself on Tuesday and Wednesday. BIG PARTY!!! Everybun is invited! I'll have the champagne chilled, fresh carrots, craisins, all the bunny treats everyone could- uh oh here comes Mama! What I'm supposed to be blogging is to, if you haven't already, consider donating to sponsor Mama in her diabetes walk. The walk is June 6th, just a week from sunday. It is a 1 mile walk (we wish it was longer we want a challenge!!!). As we said Mama was asked to join a coworkers team and help out, this coworker is also going to watch Shadow this week (BIG PARTY!!!) so please help out if you can! Here is Mama's donation link http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id87665140
and remember Tuesday/Wednesday BIG BUN PARTY!

The V Word

"The whaaa???" Not the vet. Ya know, Hef has never actually been to a vet. He has been remarkably healthy in his 2 1/2 years, and he has his carrots so he knows nothing of the vet. I did stop in to the vets with my moms cat one day and Hef went along for the ride. He licked the recptionist nose, so I don't think he'd mind the  vet.

Anyway, we are talking about vacation. Which we are trying to go on for just two nights away from the furry kids. But big girl Shadow has not yet located a place to stay. So right now we are weighing options, of boarding, doggy camp, and taking her with us. Hef is a tough bun and will be protecting the bunny lounge all by himself, with just someone checking in on him. Anyone want to watch a 50lb belgian shepherd sheepdog for two nights?

Be afraid!

Hef's Dad and I have been working hard on our deck. The previous owners had used an oil based deck paint that had started to peel, also we weren't fond of the color. We tried a chemical stripper, a Wagner Painteater machine, and a belt sander. The most success is with the belt sander. Somehow Hef got ahold of the belt sander. Be afraid!

"I'm afraid, Mama!" Don't worry Hef, its not plugged in!
Here is what it looked like after Hef's dad sanded. We are now painting all the leftover red spots with white paint and will be staining the wood with a semi-transperant teak stain. It's looking very nice, I'll keep you updated.

I can't believe I ate it!

All because of a crazy little thing called love, I actually ate veal. Which I have always been against and refused. Hef's dad wanted something different for dinner and grabbed some veal cutlets. So I was confronted with what the heck do I do with this meat I don't want to eat? This is where I love my Mastering the Art of French Cooking book because just about everything is in there. Sure enough, Veal cutlets with fine herbs, there it is. Pretty basic recipe, browning veal, cooking it in the oven, then making a pan sauce from the juices with fine herbs and cream. Paired with a side of rice and veggies. I liked the cream sauce, don't like veal, but Hef's dad was happy.

I also made Onion Soup from Mastering the Art of French Cooking, because it is something I love and vidalia onions were on sale for 99 cents a lb last week. It was delicious, again very simple, I think I'm mastering this French Cooking thing.

Black Beauties!

Something very special happened yesterday. Hef's dad asked me to wash his car! Hef's dad is a car guy, loves his car, and worries about scratches and dents. His car washing has always been a big deal, very precise. Yesterday he came home and asked me to wash it for him. I feel very trusted and honored. Unfortunately for the Shadow the dog she ended up getting a bath too. Shadow is a weird dog who hates water. She shakes and whimpers while getting her bath, but she does like the towel rub down. Hef likes publishing embrassing photos of Shadow and knows he's not getting a bath.

JDRF Walk

Hi everybun! We have been busy buns working all week and letting our camera batteries die. We missed some good photo ops but we have more in store. Right now I just wanted to remind everybun that on June 6th I will be walking for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Some of you expressed interest in donating. You can do so here, http://walk.jdrf.org/walker.cfm?id=87665140 or you can email me at thebunnylounge@yahoo.com for other options. I don't know if I mentioned why we are involved or not, so here is a reminder. A coworker of mine, whom I actually like, has type 1 diabetes, and she invited me along. So please help out if you can, thanks everybun!
"Hey Shadow, do you have human money?" "No." "Me neither, I guess thats why we are asking everybun else," Uh yeah, thats not it Hef, better go talk to those two!

CAKE!

Well here it is! Sorry for the delay, I had two unexpected early workdays and didn't get a chance to blog. This is Mastering the Art of French Cooking's Butter Spongecake. It was actually a very simple recipe and I wasn't that nervous. I wanted to frost with a buttercream, but didn't have as much as I thought left. Instead I used a strawberry whipped and decorated with cherries. It was met with great reviews. I'm a bit more confidente in my baking skills now!

Hoppy Mommy's day to everyone (except dads!) It's me Hef blogging today! Mama of course has the day off! Just like The Bunnz, I have my own account now! She wanted everyone to know her cake turned out well and she is going to frost it and show it to everybun tomorrow. Have fun everybun, and be nice to your mommy! Oh yeah, and an especially happy mother's day to my granmommy, my mommy's mom!

Hi! Whatcha cooking?

Everyone should have a bun hanging out to "help" in the kitchen. And I will need him this weekend! On Saturday I will be attempting to bake a cake, a Mastering the Art of French Cooking cake, the butter sponge cake, I believe it was. I've said it time and time again, I don't bake, but I am trying for mothers day so wish us the best of luck!
